Full Spectrum's services are based on a core set of values:
- 360 degree, integrative approach addressing whole person
We believe that many factors influence 'mental health' and all must be part of a comprehensive approach to healing including the body, nutrition, exercise, social and family relationships, community, the spirit and the heart.
- Constant learning
We believe in learning from the most experienced people with expertise in many different disciplines and approaches. We invite the leading writers and clinicians in the fields of recovery, non-medication, group work and psychotherapy to teach and supervise us. We believe in learning from clients.
- Own knowledge, solutions
We provide a supportive environment to help people discover and develop their own strength and solutions.
- Respect
We intrinsically respect our clients and treat each other as human beings of worth not as objects.
- Recovery
We believe in the possibility of wellness and beyond. We are against people being labeled as broken and irreparable. We believe in genuine healing not just symptom repression or medication management.
- Choice/voluntarism
We believe support must be chosen not involuntarily forced upon those in severe distress.
- Self-tailored programs
We believe that each of us has a unique story, inner resource base and struggle. We respect this uniqueness and co-create self-tailored programs with each person.
- Independence
We believe independence, freedom and self-regulation are possible. We try and put ourselves out of a job!
- "We are all in this together"
All of our therapists and interns have experienced their own journey. We have been there and come back. Between us we have experienced and recovered from depression, addiction, breakdown and hospitalization. We are in a growth group with each other and are committed to our own ongoing development and healing.
We believe that all humans travel back and forth along a full spectrum of severe distress to joyful positive living at different times, under different circumstances. Experts and professionals are not immune from severe distress or different to 'consumers' and clients.
- "Medications aren't always the answer"
We believe that medications are sometimes the problem not the solution; that they can be toxic and destructive over the long term; that doctors and psychologists are unduly influenced by the massive marketing budgets of pharmaceutical companies and prescribe too quickly without considering alternatives. We support the recent Federal legislation requiring warning labels on anti-depressants due to increased teen suicide and celebrate the $4 billion settlement against Pfizer for misleading drug advertising.
- Sustainability
We are a green business choosing environmental papers and green materials for our building and aiming to minimize our ecological impact and do our bit for the planet.
- Equality
We believe in a non-hierarchical, non-dominating, non-agenda driven approach to psychotherapy and the same within our organization and workplace.
